Sports Massage Edinburgh: Discover Aoife Kane's Approach

Aoife Kane is a skilled Pilates instructor and sports massage therapist with a diverse background in movement. Her experience includes training in reformer Pilates, earning qualifications in sports massage, and working internationally with clients from different backgrounds. Aoife’s unique approach focuses on strength, flexibility, and alignment, offering both Pilates classes and sports massage therapies to help clients achieve their fitness goals.

Aoife Kane's Journey into Pilates and Sports Massage Therapy

Aoife’s career in movement began with a love for dance. She graduated with a BA in Dance & Drama from Performing Arts Studio Scotland in 2021, where she began to notice a significant improvement in her overall training when she incorporated Pilates into her routine. This sparked her interest in the method, leading her to complete her Mat Pilates training with the EnergyWise Academy.

Aoife’s passion for Pilates grew as she saw the transformative effects it had on her own body. It became clear that Pilates was not just a fitness routine but a way of life. From there, Aoife further pursued her interests, becoming a certified Reformer Pilates instructor in London. Her dedication to Pilates is reflected in her teaching approach, which integrates the principles of alignment, strength, and elongation. Aoife’s classes are designed to enhance mobility, increase strength, and improve overall posture.

While Pilates was an essential part of Aoife’s development, her journey into sports massage therapy came shortly after. Recognising the importance of bodywork in the rehabilitation and maintenance of movement, Aoife qualified as a sports massage therapist. With her recent qualification, Aoife is now able to offer targeted treatments that address specific muscular issues, reduce tension, and improve recovery for athletes and fitness enthusiasts alike.

Aoife's Global Experience

Aoife’s experience is truly international. After completing her Pilates training, she took her skills overseas to Costa Rica, where she worked with Circo Fantazztico, a circus company. There, she gained further insight into the body’s movement in a dynamic and high-demand environment. Her travels also took her to Greece, where she worked as a Pilates and Barre instructor at Healthy Options, an exclusive health resort in Vassiliki.

In addition to these experiences, Aoife completed her 500-hour Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) in Rishikesh, India, a place known as the birthplace of yoga. This training has enhanced her ability to integrate yoga principles into her Pilates sessions, giving her a well-rounded approach to teaching and movement.

Aoife’s Pilates Teaching Philosophy

Aoife’s teaching philosophy focuses on the importance of movement for overall health. She firmly believes that movement creates movement, meaning that every small step you take towards better mobility and strength helps pave the way for even greater achievements. Aoife’s classes are grounded in the belief that everyone can benefit from Pilates, regardless of experience level.

Her Pilates sessions are not just about improving physical fitness; they are about creating a supportive and welcoming environment where students feel empowered to push their limits while respecting their bodies’ needs. Aoife takes a personalised approach with every client, adjusting exercises to suit individual needs, making her a favourite among both beginners and advanced practitioners.

Sports Massage Therapy: A Key Component of Aoife’s Approach

Aoife’s approach to sports massage is rooted in her understanding of movement and anatomy. As a trained sports masseur, Aoife offers tailored treatments that focus on muscle tension and recovery. Whether you’re an athlete or someone who experiences regular muscle tightness, Aoife’s treatments help release built-up tension, increase circulation, and aid in the prevention of injury.

When Aoife Isn’t Teaching Pilates or Providing Sports Massage Therapy

On her days off, Aoife enjoys exploring Edinburgh, often walking the city's many hills or discovering hidden gems. She loves the vibrant atmosphere of the city and enjoys taking in all it has to offer. Aoife’s passion for movement extends beyond Pilates and massage, and she enjoys keeping active by taking dance classes and practising aerial arts whenever possible.

Her love for movement and exploration is reflected in her approach to teaching and therapy – always seeking new ways to grow and develop, while encouraging her clients to do the same.
